Remnant loves the boys and girls of Casa Caritas. They drew us this picture to tell us thanks for everything we do!
Casa Caritas began as a daycare center in Mexicali and now includes an orphanage (about 70 children all together) and 2 church plants that are led by staff members of the original daycare ministry. It has been exciting to see God grow this ministry! In addition to sending financial support each month, Remnant also provides supplies for the ministry (food, cleaning supplies, school supplies), does construction projects (We built a house for the pastor of one of the church plants and helped finish the orphanage) and provides a Christmas outreach program called Project Joy (We deliver roughly 150 presents to the ejido and put on a fun program for the kids right before Christmas). Laura McGrain is the director of Casa Caritas and she considers Remnant her home church. You’ll see her from time to time in the service when she is state-side.
You can help by bringing canned goods and non-perishable items to Remnant each Sunday. There is a list of needed items on the ministry table in the back.
Here’s the plan: every time you go grocery shopping, grab one or two items from the list and bring them to church with you on Sunday. We’ll do the rest! What a great way to minister to kids who really need the help!
A team from Remnant goes down to Casa Caritas every 2 months, delivers presents and puts on a birthday party for the children who had birthdays during that time period. They also have Christmas, Easter and other holiday parties for the kids. If you’d like to be a part of this team, visit the ministry table to find out more.
